Hypnosis

In 2016 I began my training at the Hypnosis Motivation Institute College of Hypnotherapy, one of the most highly accredited schools for hypnotherapy. I am humbled to say I graduated with honors, and was selected to receive the Director’s Award and Outstanding Academic Achievement Award.

After graduation, I was offered a position as an associate instructor at the HMI College of Hypnotherapy, where I worked from 2018-2019.

When you hear “hypnosis,” you may think of magicians waving pocket watches in front of people before getting them to cluck like chickens, or some other silly thing. While this may be entertaining, this is far from what happens in true hypnotherapy work.

In reality, hypnosis simply refers to a collection of well-researched techniques used to induce a relaxed state of consciousness.

Once you’re in this state you become much more open to suggestions.

After using hypnotherapy, people may find they no longer feel the craving to smoke, or no longer panic at the thought of getting on a plane.

The attachment we have to our habits, fears, vices, and triggers is much less powerful after hypnosis sessions. As we now have the ability to choose, rather than automatically react.

Why?

Because in this state, we’re working on the level of your subconscious.

Dive into the deep with the theory of the mind.

Think of it this way

You can paddle as hard as you like, but if there are holes in the bottom of your boat, you’ll be working 10 times as hard without reaching your destination.

Ultimately, most of our habits and reactions are embedded within us on a deeper level than can be met simply with “willpower.” Our body sees these habits as safe and comforting — it doesn’t want to let them go, even if we decide we should!

It’s in this altered state of consciousness, when we’re at our most relaxed, that we have the greatest opportunities to rewrite our internal narratives and shift our attachments.

  • Sessions are typically done online or over the phone, allowing me to help you no matter where you’re based. (Don’t worry — I’m trained and certified in distance healing. I’ve also found that hypnosis works just as well, if not better, this way because you’re able to do your session from the comfort and familiarity of your home!)

First, I’ll begin by asking a few questions to better understand what’s going on in your life and what you hope to achieve in our session.

Remember — this is your time. Know that you are free to talk about anything that comes to mind.

When ready, I’ll use a variety of verbal, tonal, and physical cues to help cultivate a relaxed state of consciousness, where we can rewrite and release negative associations, habits, and emotions, to help promote whatever it is you hope for.

Anchoring

Anchoring is a powerful technique that’s often used in combination with hypnosis, energy work, guided visualization, and deep meditation.

Essentially, anchoring is a way of grounding yourself in your desired state. This could include relaxation, deep inner peace, confidence, freedom from phobias, and motivation to take action. In essence, it’s a positive trigger.

Think of it this way.

Have you noticed how a certain song or piece of music can take you back to a memory or bring up an emotion, like when a relationship is starting or ending? Or how a smell can remind you of childhood? These are triggers and they anchor in the feelings and emotions of memories, either of when we first experienced them or when there was a strong emotion attached to them. The sensation is linked to a feeling or emotion in the body and a memory in the mind.

Often, we think of triggers negatively. Someone makes a comment and we begin spiraling, or we see a spider and we freak out. But we can also create positive triggers that generate positive emotions and feelings.

That’s what anchoring is. In our session, I’ll help you reach your desired emotional and mental state. We’ll then attach a word, gesture, thought, or even object to this feeling. Later on, you can then use this word, technique, thought or object to bring that positive feeling up as needed to connect you with the positive emotions and mindset we anchoring in during your session.

Think of it like a lifeline to relaxation. When a trigger arises, you can just grab hold of this lifeline and it automatically connects you with feelings of safety and calm.

Anchoring gives you the power to call feelings of peace, relaxation, and safety into your life as needed. Once we create the anchor in our session, I often recommend my clients practice it at home to strengthen their connection to it.

In this way, anchoring can help empower you to face daily stress, phobias, and triggers with greater confidence, calm, and ease.

  • Many of my clients have shared that our anchoring work helps them feel more relaxed, safe, and at peace. It gives them a sense of empowerment knowing they can reconnect with this deeply relaxing place outside our sessions as they encounter stressful situations.

Other benefits of anchoring can include:

    • Feelings of safety and inner peace

    • Less stress, fear, and anxious thinking

    • Feeling calm and confident when facing stressful situations and triggers

    • The power to choose your emotional states on your terms

    • Ability to cultivate daily relaxation and peace of mind at home

Energy Work

I’ve trained in energy work for several years, and am a Level III Reiki Master, and have trained with Charlie Goldsmith (The Healer). I’m also certified and trained in distance energy healing, which is why I’m able to work with my clients over the phone and Zoom and elicit positive results.

Every living thing in the universe produces energy, including you! The energy we produce creates a sort of energetic field that surrounds us. Some call this chi or prana, while others prefer the term “biofield energy.” Some practitioners may simply call it energy.

Energy thrives with movement and flow. After all, the universe is constantly in motion.

Sometimes though, our energy becomes stuck within the body. These energy blocks may build up around old wounds, both physical and emotional.

Over time these blocks can affect us in many ways,  including by prompting illness, preventing us from connecting deeply with our loved ones, and stopping us from experiencing true joy and inner peace.

Energy work refers to techniques facilitators use to tap into universal energy, which we use to move and adjust the energy surrounding the body. Similar to acupuncture and acupressure, energy work is designed to dissolve blockages and increase the flow and movement of energy to promote health and wellbeing.

 Working with Chakras

If you’ve ever done Reiki or taken a yoga class before, you’ve likely heard of chakras. The chakras refer to energetic centers within the body that, according to ancient texts called the Vedas, written between 1500 and 500 BC, correspond to specific organs and different emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual states.

There are 7 major chakras which run from the base of the spine to the top of the head.

For instance, the chakra at the top of your head, called the crown chakra, is associated with enlightenment and our spiritual connection to our highest selves when in balance.

At the bottom of your spine sits the root chakra, which is believed to provide a sense of security that helps you feel grounded and capable.

You can learn more about all 7 chakras here

With energy work, I focus on engaging with the chakra centers to help shift and move any stuck emotions or energy.

  • Many of my clients have shared that our energy sessions leave them feeling centered and clear.

Other benefits of energy work are reported to include:

    • Enhanced relaxation

    • Pain relief

    • Speed healing

    • Better sleep

    • Enhanced emotional, mental, and spiritual wellbeing

    • Reset energy

    • Balance the chakras

Guided Imagery Journeys

Many of us may think we know what we want from life. But guided visualizations give us the opportunity to explore what truly calls to us from within and to connect with our innate wisdom and intuition on a profound level.

You can think of guided imagery, also called guided visualizations, as incredibly deep and powerful meditations. A guided imagery journey is an opportunity to meet your inner guide, coach, or mentor who can then help you realize your inner knowing and identify your true calling. If all this sounds a bit “woo,” meeting your guide really is just another way of connecting with your subconscious mind and your innate wisdom on a deeper level.

Each of us experiences guided imagery journeys differently. So while some may meet their inner guide, others may find they’re drawn to discovering meaning in their life and the universe through metaphysical, mythic and archetypal symbols. (Symbols are the language of the subconscious, which is why these journeys can be so powerful and personally revealing!)

Once we do a guided imagery journey, my clients usually find it’s much easier to connect with this internal wisdom as needed in their daily lives. In this way, connection to their inner guide helps them to intuit the “right” decisions for them and to follow their calling with bold self-belief, trust, and conviction.

  • My clients often report feeling inspired, motivated, and filled with clarity in where they want to take their lives after doing a guided imagery session.

Other benefits of guided visualizations are reported to include:

    • Clarity

    • Connection to your inner guide

    • Access to your intuition and inner wisdom

    • Finding your calling and purpose in life

    • Greater ease and confidence making important decisions

    • More motivation and inspiration

    • A deep sense of calm and confidence
